As I previously stated, It is certainly not how I would build them. The alignment is definitely off in my book and the plates are certainly longer than I would use. All that said, do you have access to the last pair she sk8ed?? How long has it be…
-
Not the way I build them if they are as described, that is for certain. Can you post up a pic of the front axle w/o the wheels, shooting straight down @ the center of the front axle??
-
Are the high tops going to be used for the same rec style sk8ing?? If so yes, unless the rear mount holes do not reach the heel and leave a bit of space between the mount screws and the front of the heel. I have never put a plate with more than a …

@ Bboy Heathen: "During the 2 years I skated them, I had the cushions tightened down pretty tight. That lead me to hit edges deeply to achieve turns etc." I don't think you hit your edges deeply, you had to hit them hard. Not good because …

So instead of providing those million answers I am going to talk a bit about the mechanics here. First, if you are a rec sk8r and riding on the original rubber cushions, ditch 'em and get urethane. (Yeah I know figure sk8rs like rubber so if it ma…

Let's not used WD-40 in sk8 bearings. Granted, it can displace water but then you have the residue left. It is not a good high speed lube for bearings. Lately I have been playing with Lucas Reel oil but 3 in 1 does just fine if you want to oil the …

1) One of the things to be wary of on boots with heels is short mounts can put the rear mount holes ahead of the heel. Can't mount them that way without a lot of screwing about. So make sure you will have enough room to do what you want. 2) Two si…

If ya can't get them from SG you certainly could get them from me. For that matter, I can rebuild your set so there is no "worst comes to worse". I seriously doubt PowerDyne will even consider longer axles much less do a one off, but feel…
-
The easiest way to swap axles is pull the truck press out the old axle and press in the new one. Then reinstall the truck. The axle on the SG web site is the standard 8mm axle, not the A1. The A1 is a really old part that needs to be dug out of the…

Got a competent sk8 mech handy?? If so have him press out the stock axles and replace them with Sure Grip A1 8mm axles. They are longer and should help. I have done the gen 2 trucks on my Arius plates. NOTE: The A1 is not just some generic 8mm axl…

Knowing what sk8 that came from would be most helpful. That is typically how those are sourced. Otherwise contacting K2 directly would be your best bet.

OK the uneven front to back alignment is an indication of a rush job....so sloppy work. Not fatal however. OR, did they actually fit you in the boots?? There may be more going on here than I can see from the pix. When you have the sk8s on do both f…

Nice looking flush mount. Enjoy!!

As I explained on fb, the large diameter cushions from SA Black Diamonds / Cobras / Scorpions and Ultimate IIs work fine as do the aftermarket urethane cushions made for those plates.
-
One can certainly Tee nut a Mota. Have done so in the past. Just cut the teeth off the tee nut because they won't sink into a carbon boot. That said, there are a couple of plate exceptions that do not play well with Tee nuts.
-
Excellent. Enjoy rolling them!!

The rear mounting bolts are too long for those wheels. Ya gotta remember, not all sk8 parts work well together. To solve that problem and keep using those wheels on that plate, change the rear mounting hardware to countersunk flat head screws into …

Spot on as far as I can see.

1) I would say you are correct about the ice blade. 2) I'd say your center line looks good judging by the pic. Should sk8 fine if the image is not fooling me.
-
The low end price is the 3 different durometers of rubber. The high end price is for the 5 different urethane sets. Buying cushions is NOT just about replacing worn parts. It's about finding out what works best for you. I cannot count the number o…

Yeah thats what I've landed on after hours of deliberation , I'm thinking Mistrels. Pricey but I still haven't read one negative review. The expensive parts you mention, do they need replacing often? Are there specific parts you are referring to? Th…

OK I'll drop ya a hint. Roll Line. Great plates but parts are grotesquely pricey.
-
Makes sense. I have been know to enlarge the holes in certain Delrin cups with the afore mentioned ball mill.
-
My main question is... When you get a skate boot are there holes or hardware spots or marks in place to align the plate properly and how do you know the size of plate to put on the size of boot based on the type of skating I described above? Unfortu…

Good plan. Metal cups are a "great" idea, from back in the day. I wonder why Roll Line chose to go with Delrin??
-
If the action is loose then something is probably bent. Pix would help here.
-
The 2 epoxies I recommend are listed above. JB Weld of JB Waterweld. Go for the gusto meant "drill away". BTW if the boots are Riedell's they do resole them. Not cheap but well worth the price to save an expensive pair of boots.
-
Yeah what Schpanky said.

Your pivot cup looks fine to me. Snyder uses hardened steel pivot cups. The pivot pin in the truck is the wear part, so keep an eye on them and keep that joint lubed. Snyder recommends "oil". I have used moly engine break in lube quite s…

Snyder Super Deluxe plates are only obsolete for top lever artistic sk8ing. Kinda heavy but fine for having fun. The asking price is way below wholesale for a new pair of those plates. Wow, I just looked close @ the pictures. Those the the "li…
