Wheels catching on two foot spin (quad skates)

Hey y'all,

I'm relatively new to roller skating and am trying to get down some basic moves. I noticed that when I attempt to do two-foot spins, regardless of which direction I'm going, I am unable to smoothly do a half-circle without either my outside wheels coming up or the wheels skidding on the ground. Happens both indoors and outdoors, and I have the Moxi Rainbow riders which are supposed to be fine for both. Does anyone have tips on how to overcome this? Should I just accept the sticking and try to spin past it?

  • Softer wheels (outdoor wheels) make it a bit more difficult to do technical movements. Your wheels will "want" to stick to the floor but you need less friction to spin freely. If you want to have a better experience, find a smoother surface, and use harder wheels (90a+).

  • For heel toe spins your wheels don't drag at all, wheel hardness wouldn't matter. If you are doing the LIB-RIF pressure two foot spins then you need to press more and/or use harder wheels.
