When Should We Replace the Wheels of Roller Skates?

In a roller skate, the wheels are the first thing to wear out as they are always in direct contact with the floor. When a wheel starts to wear it gets smaller in diameter, for example, it can go from 84s to 79s, in this condition the speed will drop but the wheel will still work. The toe and heel wheels are more likely to wear out first and the middle one to last longer. Usually, the wheels are expected to last a decent amount of time, if you skate 4 hours for 5 days then the wheels should last at least a month.

If your wheels are not lasting this long even when you are skating less then you need to change the brand or get different types of wheels. You should never let your wheels wear down too much, if you let this happen then splits are expected to develop, and skating with wheels having split in them can be extremely dangerous. In this case, you need to replace your wheels immediately.

You need to consider changing your wheels when it goes down about 10% in diameter. In short, roller skate wheels can last a year, 6 months, or only 30 days.
