Mounting systems

Imagine using the same boot for inline skating, quad skating and figure skating. The dream is to not have to go to a shop whenever I would like to "change setups." I was curious to know if there were any serious drawback to having several sets of holes drilled into boots to support different plates. The boot I'm starting with is a quad-skate boot, for the sake of a solid example, Riedell 220.

Do you have examples of something like this?

Have you come across structural instability on the sole of a boot because of this?

  • Please tell me what plates you plan to use for this. Are you meaning Ice when you say "figure sk8ing"?

  • I haven't committed to a particular combination of plates (quad skating), frames (inline skating), and/or blades (ice/figure skating) for this idea. I guess I should ask, have you ever put a hockey blade on a heeled quad skate boot? I'm wondering how many set-ups you could have on a single boot without significantly compromising structural integrity.

I will have a Riedell 111 to play around with once the my next boot that I ordered arrives. I will be fitting it with an Arius Platinum plate (size 12 most likely).
