Mounting boots to different plates

I need to replace a set of boots that are no longer being produced (boots rotting and feet grew) and I would prefer to use the same boot because I’ve been skating on them since 1986.

I have found a gently used set of slightly larger boots for sale which have been previously mounted to a different size and style plate.

What type of problems should I expect if mounting a size 7 Ultimate SST plate to boots that previously were mounted to size 8 Sure Grip plates...and are they easily overcome?

i think the rear mounting holes are close, but not in exactly the right place. The front holes won’t be even remotely in the same place.

  • Well, I was going to try and get picture of the bolt holes, but when he pulled the boots out of the box they were a larger size than he thought they were. That’s not going to work.

I guess it’s time to “upgrade” to a set of 265s.

I’m fortunate that I found out the fella who always built my skates didn’t retire at 65. Building skates around this section of the country is becoming a lost art.

  • Good luck!!
